Trend Talk: Pastels

Trend Talk: Pastels

Trend Talk

Pastel

Pastels for spring. Now there's one we haven't seen before (subtle eye roll). But as with every season, there is always a new angle to a trend, a new way to wear it. So don't worry, you wont be wishing you held onto all of your baby blue shirts or lilac dresses from years ago when pastels were last in, there is a completely new take on pastels. Here's how we would style them up this season.

Below we have our usual three outfits. One casual, one more dressy and a layering outfit thrown in for good measure. This time around it's all about the texture. The trend has been seen on the runways of Victoria Beckham, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein and Carolina Herrera, just to mention a few. So here is how we would do the pastel trend this spring.

Casual

Lilac is huge this season too. We love this jumper paired with some light wash denim and some futuristic sneakers. Add in a pastel shearling bag to really play into the trend and your all set.

Dressy

Go for a simple LBD under a pastel statement cocktail coat. preferably in leather of something fun like that. Pair with simple accessories.

Layering.

Lastly with layering in mind, we love the shearling jackets that are everywhere at the moment. Add one in a pastel colour over a casual outfit, and your guaranteed to be spot on trend.

That's right - the Chriatian Dior Spring-Summer 2018 Haute Couture Collection fashion show will take place on Monday, January 22 2018, at 2.30pm. Fur further details click below. Because haute couture is a dream of fashion. It’s a place where there are no limits to pushing boundaries and experimenting with technique, material and form. Immersing herself in the heart of the Surrealist movement made it possible to bring a fresh breath of imagination to the spring-summer 2018 haute couture collection, conjuring an otherworldliness and constant optical illusion.

Copenhagen Fashion Week - Spring Summer 2018

In accordance with our previous post on Copenhagen Fashion Week (give it a read here) we identified a trend that we predict will be big and translate onto the high street very nicely. Mostly focused towards leathery texture, the trend also crops up in another Danish designers Spring Summer 2018 collection, that was recently showcased at Copenhagen Fashion Week this August.

This time, rather than dark shades, Baum und Pferdgarten showed some metallic finished to leather pieces. Just check out that bomber jacket above! Also we take a sort of retro sporty vibe from the collection, with bolder prints and colours contrasted with more delicate floral motifs. Also to feature, were stripes, so we predict that this might be another key trend next season.

Over all, the collection was bright, and playful, and will definitely translate into some serious street style looks come next year. See images from the show below.

Copenhagen Fashion Week

Before the start of Fashion Weeks "Big Four" (New York, London, Milan and Paris) fashion week really starts in Scandinavia. This usually gives us a good prediction on what trends will be cropping up in future collections for the next season. One of the biggest names of Copenhagen Fashion week, and most watched labels of the week, is By Malene Birger.

Already there is a theme trending that we may see cropping up in high street stores come next spring, although how practical for Spring Summer is it? We thing that this trend will be utilised better as a transitional trend from the colder months into summer and vice-versa. The trend we are talking about, which dominated the By Malene Birger Spring Summer show is leather and vinyl texture. Seen in the collection in dark shades, pared with neutral colours and some contrasting pops of colour. To see some of the looks from the show scroll down.
