Stella McCartney - AW 17

Stella McCartney - AW 17

Stella McCartney

Autumn Winter 2017 Collection

With sustainability becoming even more hot on the fashion agenda, we thought we would show you one designer that is leading the way. Stella McCartney has been focused on providing a luxury and on trend look, without sacrificing ethics in the process, which has been central to the designer's strategy since the start.

Also, it has been acknowledged that a company cannot be completely ethical, however, much attention has been payed to producing products and collections in the best possible way. Therefore, rest assured, this isn't a marketing ploy. Stella McCartney really means sustainable business. To read more on the company ethics, click here.

As for the latest collection, we see many chequered fabric used in classic pieces such as the coats, but accompanied with more modern and contemporary pieces, bringing an updated British Heritage look. We think the collection provides a brilliant parallel to the way in which the fashion industry and designers need to go by updating their production and ethics to lead sustainability forward, but still remaining true to themselves, and producing classic pieces with longevity, that consumers still lust after.

Eco-friendly fashion at SVILU

“SVILU was born out of the desire to create beautifully made, thoughtfully designed staples for women that endure the ebb and flow of trends. Environmentally sensitive fabrics and practices are utilised whenever possible and we continue to research ways to reduce our impact while maintaining the integrity of our designs.”

The mission statement of both trend and environmentally focused brand SVILU. As sustainability is becoming more and more desirable in industry today, designers are having to combine eco-friendly fashion with trends. A concept that Karl Lagerfeld recently incorporated into his Chanel SS Haute Couture collection.

SVILU, founded by Britt Cosgrove and Marina Polo, is one brand that has managed to do this. And do it well.

With the use of organic cotton, tencel (textile made from the pulp of eucalyptus trees), modal (textile made from pulp of beech trees) and eco friendly digital fabric printers, and their talent for design, collections come together.
