Michael Kors Spring Summer 2018

Spring Summer 2018 - New York Fashion Week

Another big name on the New York Fashion Week calendar, the great Michael Kors, has just presented their spring summer 2018 ready to wear collection. Full of relaxed shaped and pretty colours, the collection very much had a laid back surfer beach vibe to it. We can totally see ourselves in many of the pieces chilled out on a beach in Hawaii next summer.

The colour pallet was light with pastel colours bleeding into more vibrant shades, with many prints and tie-dye pieces running through. Shapes we very relaxed and cool, with the odd tailored jacket thrown over the top in certain looks. Trend wise, we definitely think that surfer style will be big next year, if you remember we posted on the Louis Vuitton Menswear collection a couple of months ago, which had surfer inspired pieces too. If the LV womenswear collection is similar to the menswear collection, we have two big designers sporting the water-sports trend for next season. So get ready to go all surfer dude next summer!

The Most Exclusive Comeback At Milan Fashion Week: Popped Up Collars

The Most Exclusive Comeback At Milan Fashion Week: Popped Up Collars
Prada is a brand that even non-fashionable men are well aware of and follow from time to time. This time around Prada brought back the once hit collars back on-ramp, the popped up collars. Let’s look at a few pieces by Prada on-ramp, to decide whether it’s a yay or nay for you.

Look at this vibrant ensemble by Prada, following the same popping out the theme of bright colors and layered collars. Prada’s spring/summer collection 2028 had mostly been about bringing back 2000s trends, including jumpsuits.

Prada’s spring-summer collection showcased at Milan Fashion Week 2017-2018, was, however, a breeze of fresh air because it blended millennials with generation Z.

The best part about this collection is how the designer incorporated double layered shirts with popped up collars. This ensemble particularly is the perfect blend of contemporary with conventional- straight pants with striking red belt, all the little details are perfectly catered to.

Not to mention, socks with sandals. Yes, hopefully, this initiative by Prada will ward off the stigma attached to popped up collars and bring back the cool trend of awesomeness.

Copenhagen Fashion Week

Before the start of Fashion Weeks "Big Four" (New York, London, Milan and Paris) fashion week really starts in Scandinavia. This usually gives us a good prediction on what trends will be cropping up in future collections for the next season. One of the biggest names of Copenhagen Fashion week, and most watched labels of the week, is By Malene Birger.

Already there is a theme trending that we may see cropping up in high street stores come next spring, although how practical for Spring Summer is it? We thing that this trend will be utilised better as a transitional trend from the colder months into summer and vice-versa. The trend we are talking about, which dominated the By Malene Birger Spring Summer show is leather and vinyl texture. Seen in the collection in dark shades, pared with neutral colours and some contrasting pops of colour. To see some of the looks from the show scroll down.

Day 8: New York Fashion Week, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren.

Day 8 at New York Fashion week holds some very big, recognized names indeed with the kings of the New York Fashion houses. Firstly, Michael Kors, who is probably on every Park Avenue Princesses speed dial.

The Michael Kors has been repositioning itself into as luxury proposition with previous struggles with mostly outlet sales so what was the high end collection like this fashion week. The show this year was very much inspired by retro flower power, with many sixties silhouettes and bright colors and flowery prints. It was definitely an attempt to brighten things up with a happy factor after the tough times faced by the fashion house.

Accompanying the show was a live performance by Rufus Wainwright.

The other fashion house to present was none other than New York’s Ralph Lauren. The show was literally a traffic stopper, as the house closed the stretch of Madison Avenue outside the Upper East Side flagship store to use as it’s runway. Another label to go to see-now-buy-now, the AW17 collection was shown. The collection featured many references to western style, but with glitzed up sequined numbers with plenty of embellishment and fringing.
